St. Paul and St. Perpetua
This fall our Christian Classics Discussion Group will reflect on Early Christian life and thought. Our authors will be Saint Paul and Saint Perpetua.
We will start with the portrait of St. Paul found in selected chapters of the Acts of the Apostles. Then we will read and discuss his First Letter to the Corinthians. This great epistle - one of the earliest Christian texts - offers vivid insights into actual life in the ancient church. It also contains St. Paul's teaching on Christian love and the resurrection.
Then we'll read The Passion of Saints Perpetua and Felicity. This work contains the earliest personal narrative by a woman, written by Vibia Perpetua, a married 22-year-old aristocrat with an infant son. She converted to Christianity in Carthage in 203, along with her slave Felicity. The text includes Perpetua's own account of her trial and prophetic visions, as well as an additional description of her martyrdom along with Felicity and some other companions. Both Perpetua and Felicity are invoked at Mass in the Eucharistic Prayer 1.

Our group will be meeting Tuesday, October 22, October 29, November 5, November 12, November 19, December 3, from 7:00 - 8:00 PM. at St. Maximillian Kolbe in the small hall. Everyone is welcome to attend
