When you lose someone you love, it can be difficult to decide how to honor them. A donation in support of the Parish is a meaningful way to commemorate a beloved family member or friend.
The parish will provide the family with a list of all donations made and will write thank you notes to all that have given.
You may wish to encourage donations by including wording within a funeral notice, such as “In loving memory of ______________, donations may be made to St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish – Community Garden."
Sometimes the obituary announcement will include the phrase "In lieu of flowers", contributions may be made to …” This terminology often is used to encourage charitable gifts but not necessarily to discourage other expressions of sympathy.
Other phrases may be used:
"Flowers are welcome. Contributions may be sent to St. John and Holy Cross Parish."
"Memorials may be made to St. Bartholomew – Faith Formation, however flowers are welcome."
