December 9th: The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception
The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception celebrates the unique grace given to Mary by God: that she was conceived without original sin to prepare her to be the Mother of Jesus. This feast is a beautiful reminder of God’s plan of salvation and Mary’s role in it.
Due to recent clarification from the Church, the Solemnity will be observed as a Holy Day of Obligation on Monday, December 9, 2024, even though December 8 falls on a Sunday this year.
⛪ Important Reminder: This requires attending two separate Masses—one for your Sunday obligation and one for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.
Please join us in honoring Mary and reflecting on her "yes" to God, which brought salvation into the world.
Holy Day Mass Schedule at St. John Paul II Parish: 7:30 AM at Holy Cross Church 9:00 AM at Holy Cross Church 5:00 PM at St. Bartholomew Church 6:00 PM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church
Let us celebrate this special day together in prayer and gratitude for the gift of Mary’s Immaculate Conception!
