Born in Portland, Maine, the Reverend Alexander R. Boucher grew up in Biddeford, Maine, as the oldest in a family of three sons. Father Boucher began a lifetime of Catholic education at Saint James School in Biddeford, Maine, graduated from Cheverus High School in Portland, Maine, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology & Religious Studies from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Prior to beginning studies for the priesthood, he worked for the Catholic Apostolate Center, the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, and Leadership Roundtable, all in Washington, D.C., the Immaculate Conception Province of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottine Fathers & Brothers) in Hyattsville, Maryland, and the Portland Peninsula & Island Parishes in Portland, Maine.
Father Boucher received his seminary formation at Saint John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree in May 2020. He is also a alumnus of the Institute for Priestly Formation's program of spiritual formation for diocesan seminarians.
On June 2, 2019, he was ordained a deacon by the Most Reverend Robert Peter Deeley, J.C.D., the twelfth bishop of the Diocese of Portland, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland, Maine. As a deacon, he served at Saint Paul the Apostle Parish in Greater Bangor, Maine, Saint Agnes & Saint Camillus de Lellis Parishes in Arlington, Massachusetts, Saint Thérèse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford-Springvale, Maine, and Saint Matthew Parish in Limerick, Maine. On August 22, 2020, the Feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Father Boucher was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Deeley at Saint Joseph Church in Biddeford, Maine. Upon ordination, Bishop Deeley assigned Father Boucher as Parochial Vicar of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford-Springvale, Maine and Saint Matthew Parish in Limerick, Maine. In May 2022, Father Boucher was assigned by Bishop Deeley as Parochial Vicar of Saint John Paul II Parish in Cape Elizabeth, Scarborough, and South Portland, Maine.
In addition to parish ministry, Father Boucher also serves on the board of directors of the Alumni Association at The Catholic University of America and the Diocesan Bureau of Housing/Deering Pavilion, and is a Collaborator of the Catholic Apostolate Center. Father Boucher is a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, currently serving as a Chaplain and Faithful Friar. Previously, he served on the Alumni Council of Cheverus High School and as Chaplain to the Daughters of Isabella. Father Boucher belongs to the John Carroll Society of Washington, D.C., La Société St. Jean-Baptise de Bienfaisance of Biddeford, Maine, and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
